Together we can BeBoldForChange

It's time for action

#BeBoldForChange is the theme for International Women’s Day 2017. It’s also the way we should be living every day. Women are transforming the world we live in and becoming a force for economic change.

  • Women could add $12 trillion to the global economy in the next decade. Their wealth is growing faster than men’s.*
  • Almost half (47%), compared to 39% of men, express their social, political or environmental values through their investment decisions.**
  • To women, success is made of more than money.

But gender equality still hasn’t come far enough. At UBS, we recognize how women are challenging, reinventing and innovating - inspiring the next generation to do the same. Women are part of our agenda - in our business, our workplace and our communities. Together we can #BeBoldForChange.

From a woman's perspective

In our Life’s Questions series, we ask the questions women face when it comes to life, business, family, and investing. Joss Stone re-recorded her song ‘Free Me’ especially for this film, and we were honored to work with such a talented woman with worldwide acclaim. She also invited us behind the scenes in her private studio to share her opinion on equal rights for women.

Women inspiring change

We'd like to recognize some of the positive steps being made by brilliant, inspirational women around the world.

Annie Leibovitz

Annie Leibovitz

We commissioned this legendary portrait photographer to celebrate women, their strengths and their role in bringing about positive change in the world.
The global tour of her exhibition WOMEN: New Portraits, featured women of outstanding achievement including artists, musicians, CEOs, politicians, writers and philanthropists.

“There's an idea that it's hard to be a female artist, that there are fewer opportunities, less power. But it's no harder to be a female artist than a male artist. We all take what we are given and use the parts of ourselves that feed the work.”

Analisa Balares

Analisa Balares - CEO & Founder of Womensphere

The Womensphere Foundation is a global social enterprise aiming to unleash women’s potential, empowering them to become leaders, creating our future, and transforming our world.

Analisa has recently been recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

“We want to ensure that women and girls around the world, regardless of their background, have access to mentors and institutions that support their growth and development as leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs."

Elinor Ostrom

Elinor Ostrum, Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences

Elinor Ostrom was the first and only woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences and features in our series of Nobel Perspectives. Her work focuses on economic governance, examining how people can co-operate with each other and draw up sensible rules, without needing external authorities to impose them.

“We’ve already entered a new era, and recognize that women have the capabilities to do great scientific work, so I appreciate it’s an honor to be the first woman to be awarded the prize, but I know I won’t be the last.”
