In India, 350 million students that are unable to study after sun-down or only with the use of potentially toxic kerosene lamps. We can see this problem in many developing countries. Existing clean solutions (such as solar lamps) are expensive and non-repairable at the village level. Also, there is no room for local innovation and the technology is often pushed on them without considering the socio-cultural aspect.
We have developed a DIY low cost solar lamp for students in developing countries. It comes with a training and high qaulity components.
We teach them through a unique pedagogical way so that they have a complete understanding of the circuit and the design process. We also promote entrepreneuship through this process. We use an online platfom which is available (constantly evolving) in multi-languages (right now Hindi, English and French) and use high quality videos and graphics to teach our lessons. These videos are based on analogies to nature which makes it easy to grasp the concepts.
Now we are expanding this platform to other techologies (solar mobile charger, water purifier). We use this platform to train teachers and our partners trainers.
