What do we offer?

Goal based investing and personalised advice

Access to
UBS expertise

You can now have easy access to the expertise of one of the world’s largest wealth managers - with threshold investment amounts much lower than usual.

Any decision on the management of the assets within your investment will draw upon the insights of UBS’s extensive network of 900+ investment experts from around the world.

Personalised
advice

You share with us your current financial situation and your objectives. You also tell us about your needs and preferences, and we assess your attitude to risk. We then advise you on a suitable investment strategy. We offer restricted advice, we do not consider other investment options available to you or your other financial needs.

We understand that the world is not static and neither are your needs. So we take you through an online strategy review at least once a year.

Goals-oriented investment planning

Whatever your goals are along life’s journey, we help you keep them within sight. You may want to protect your wealth, grow it, or spend it in your lifetime.

With our tools, you can plan, map out and track how you can get to where you want to go.

Investment options

Core investment

This is where you invest your non tax “wrapped” assets. With your core account, you invest your money into one of our funds in line with the defined investment strategy that serves your financial situation and goals best.

Remember that your core investments are subject to applicable taxes.

ISA

An ISA (Individual Savings Account) offers you a simple and tax-efficient investment solution. Our ISA forms part of your investment strategy and accesses the same five investment strategies as our investment account. Your investments grow free of any capital gains tax and income tax.

Invest your current allowance of up to £20,000. And if you’d like to invest additional money above your annual ISA allowance then please use your investment account. Which will be subject to applicable taxes.

How we invest

Five investment strategies

Every investor is different. That is why we have devised five different investment strategies so that we can find the one most suitable for you. The recommended strategy is dictated by your investment objectives, your current financial situation, and your ability and appetite to take on risk. The strategies vary in terms of expected risks and returns, and the asset exposure for each strategy composition, as can be seen below.

The price and value of investments and income derived from them can go down as well as up. You may not get back the amount originally invested.

The goal is to earn interest income with as few fluctuations in value as possible.

The goal is to generate income and moderate appreciation for a more attractive return.

The goal is achieving the best possible combination of returns and capital gains.

The goal is to provide capital growth whilst maintaining diversification across asset classes.

Allocations shown are not static and may change without notification.

Two management styles

We offer two ways in which your investment can be managed - either actively or passively implemented. Once we have recommended a suitable investment strategy, you will need to choose which fund type you would like to opt for. All of our investment strategies implement the strategic (long-term) and tactical (short-term) asset allocation decisions of our Chief Investment Office. They benefit from the oversight of more than 900 dedicated analysts defining and monitoring our preferred investment positioning, searching for investment opportunities as well as identifying potential risks, all with a focus on helping you to achieve your financial goals.

Our 'passively implemented’ strategies utilise predominantly passive investments (ETFs, Passive funds and index tracking funds) in order to create a cost-effective range of investment options. Where we identify the potential to add further value we use a range of SmartBeta ETFs to ensure that we deliver a more sophisticated investment solution rather than just a market tracker.

Our 'actively implemented’ fund management looks for preferred global investment options and combines them in an attempt to outperform the market. Our fund managers aim to take advantage of both in-house and third party growth opportunities that will seek to perform better than the market. The fees for actively implemented management are higher than for our passively implemented management but with either style we aim to deliver superior long term performance.

Fees

How our fees work

They are defined by:

  • How much you invest - the more you invest the lower the fee
  • Your recommended investment strategy - the lower risk strategies come with lower fees
  • Your choice of investment styles - passively implemented strategies are generally cheaper

Account fee

The UBS SmartWealth account fee is charged quarterly and you will see this as a distinct entry in your UBS SmartWealth account.

Fund fee

The cost of the purpose built investment funds are expressed as the fund fee or ongoing charges. It is referred to as the OCF (On going Charges Figure). This fee is charged daily and from within the fund so you will not see this on your UBS SmartWealth statement. Fund fees are deducted from the fund by the fund provider and not by UBS SmartWealth.
