Ljubljana

A hilltop castle sits above Slovenia's capital, overlooking the river Ljubljanica that curves around the red rooftops of the old town and into the city's concrete blocks. One of the smaller European capitals, with a population of just over 500,000 people, the city is the cultural, educational, economic and political center of Slovenia. Active and vibrant, it has numerous museums, cafes and restaurants to create a buzzing atmosphere throughout the year.
