Bratislava

Slovakia's political, cultural and economic center, Bratislava lies on both banks of the Danube river, uniquely located on the border with Austria and Czech Republic. With only 450,000 residents, it's one of the smallest capitals in Europe, but has one of the highest per capita GDP. A mix of modern business centers and soviet-era monuments set around a preserved medieval center creates an eclectic architectural landscape – a reflection of the city's long international history.
