Competition entries have now closed, but you can find out all about the competition on this page.

This global open innovation competition is for entrepreneurs, start-ups or growing companies that could change the way finance works and how banks meet their client’s needs. That’s why we are looking for disruptive ideas.

We believe a healthy financial services industry should be open to transformation through collaborative innovation. UBS’s innovation teams around the world are already driving new concepts from ideation through prototyping into development. We’re inviting you to join this process by presenting your idea to our teams and then developing it with input and support from UBS.

There are four challenges for you to choose from.

With a first prize of US$50,000, the competition offers the winners a share of over US$300,000 cash prizes and support, over 300 hours dedicated coaching and mentoring from experienced technology and business leaders, and also a chance to further commercialize and scale their ideas and technologies with help from UBS resources and support.

See our rewards page for more details about the prizes.

What is the competition process?

The application deadline was 23rd September 2015 at 23:59.59 CET. We are not able to consider any submissions made after this closing date.

Once we have filtered the entries we will contact the most suitable applicants and then select the 60 regional finalists, who will be invited to come to immersion workshops that include one-to-one mentoring from UBS experts, tailored to each finalist’s specialist area, and an opportunity to pitch your idea to our regional juries.

  • Singapore (2nd and 3rd November 2015)
  • London (5th and 6th November 2015)
  • New York (9th and 10th November 2015)
  • Zurich (12th and 13th November 2015)

We will then decide on 12 global finalists who will each receive intensive coaching to prepare their final pitch for the finals in Zurich on 10th December 2015.

Good luck and we hope to see you at the finals!

How will entries be judged?

In the first stage, our judges will use this 6P framework as a filter.

Then we will invite the regional finalists to develop their ideas with us at immersion workshops and pitch them to regional juries.

The three winning teams in each region will be invited to Zurich for their final pitch.
