Your Roles and Responsibilities in Safeguarding Your Internet Banking Access

At UBS, we have implemented the best available and latest security solutions to ensure that your financial and personal information is safe and protected from hacking and virus attacks.

However, you also play an important role in reinforcing this security strength to ensure that your online security and account information are not compromised. As a joint effort, UBS recommends that you adopt the following security practices on a day-to-day basis:

PIN and Access Card Security

  1. Keep your PIN confidential at all times. Do not reveal it to anyone, including UBS staff or law enforcement agents. Nobody at UBS will ever ask you for your PIN.
  2. Change your PIN regularly. Do not reuse the same PIN over time.
  3. Do not use the same PIN for different websites, applications or services, particularly when they relate to different entities.
  4. Dispose of your initial PIN information once you have used it. After memorizing your new PIN, do not write it down or store it anywhere.
  5. Your PIN should not use the same character more than twice.
  6. Do not base your PIN on your user-ID, birth date, telephone number, identification number, or any other personally identifiable information.
  7. Change your PIN immediately if you suspect that someone else knows it or if you suspect that any unauthorized access has occurred.
  8. Safeguard your Access Card at all times. Do not allow anyone to keep, use or tamper with your Access Card.
  9. Do not reveal any code generated by your Access Card to anyone.
  10. Do not divulge the Card number printed on your Access Card to anyone.


1. Before entering your Access Card Pin, ensure that the website you are visiting is using a secure connection and belongs to UBS.

The security of the connection can be verified by


i. Check that the URL displayed in the "Address" bar on the browser begins with "https://".

ii. Check whether the site belongs to by confirming that the URL has the domain "";

iii. Check if the website's digital certificate is valid and issued to UBS AG. Click here to find out how to check the authenticity of the Digital certificate

2. If you receive any SSL Certificate related warnings, please check the authenticity of website, clear the cache, and reopen your browser window to try again. You can also try navigating to the Login page from the UBS main website: If the error persists or if you suspect the site is not secure, please contact the UBS e-banking Helpline immediately.

3. Do not store your login details in the browser (see the General security precautions and practices section below for details on how to change this setting).

4. When you log into UBS e-banking, take note of your last login date and time to ensure that there was no unauthorized access into your account. 


  1. Log off from your online session if you leave your computer unattended. Switch off your computer when you are not using it.
  2. Clear your Web browser cache and history after logging out and close your Web browser to ensure that all your account information is removed.
  3. Steps to clear disk cache
  • To clear your disk cache, just follow these steps:
    For IE 5.0 and higher:
  • Select 'Tools' from the Menu Bar.
  • Select 'Internet Options'.
  • Select 'General' tab.
  • Select "Temporary Internet Files/ Clear History/ Delete Browsing History" and click "Delete Files"
  • Select 'OK' to exit the dialogue box.
