About UBS

"Two IFC"

With Hong Kong's spectacular city skyline as backdrop, more than 1,000 UBS clients and employees, members of community arts groups, and friends of the firm gathered on the evening of 19 July for the official opening of UBS Hong Kong's new premises at Two International Finance Centre and to mark the 40th anniversary of UBS in Hong Kong.

The dedication ceremony was hosted by CFO Clive Standish, Raoul Weil, Head of Wealth Management International, and Kathryn Shih, Hong Kong Country Head and Head of Wealth Management Asia Pacific. The Honorable Tung Chee Hwa, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, was the guest of honor.

One of the main features of the evening was the exhibition of selected works of contemporary photography from the UBS Art Collection, which comprises around 900 works of post-war contemporary art by the world's most prominent artists. With its thirty-year heritage, the collection focuses on works of museum quality from the former PaineWebber collection in the US and the UBS collections in Switzerland and Europe.

The selected pieces for the occasion of the UBS Hong Kong dedication ceremony and cocktail were large-scale photographs by artists, including Theresa Hubbard and Alexander Birchler, Doug Hall, Thomas Ruff, and Cindy Sherman, which examine the relationship between the individual and society.

"Just as we are committed to, and passionate about Hong Kong, so too is UBS passionate about its commitment to the support of the arts and culture. It is a passion that we are keen to share with our employees, clients and the communities in which we work," said Standish.

"Our predecessor firms all shared a common belief - that creative thinking and intelligent risk-taking foster positive and enriching outcomes for all concerned. In this regard the arts serve as a constant reminder of the value of creativity, innovation, inspired action and energy - values that we at UBS seek to bring to the relationships we share with each of our clients every day," he said.
