About the campaign

#TOGETHERBAND was co-launched by UBS and sustainable fashion brand BOTTLETOP on World Earth Day 2019 (April 22nd) to raise awareness and support for the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the UN's blueprint for a sustainable future.

The campaign revolves around 17 bands, one band to represent each goal. Its aim is to humanise the SDGs and bring people into the conversation by asking everyone to choose the goal that matters most to them.

To help spread the word, the campaign invites individuals from across the cultural spectrum; artists, sports-people, activists and experts to wear their goal of choice and share their second band with a friend or loved one, explaining why they chose their goal. About the bands

Each #TOGETHERBAND is ethically made with sustainably sourced materials.

The rope: Made from 100% upcycled plastic recovered from the coasts of Costa Rica and transformed in the US into BIONIC® yarn. BIONIC® addresses ocean plastic pollution by orchestrating recycling operations and beach clean ups, transforming this recovered plastic into fully traceable high-grade textiles and polymers.

The metal clasp: Humanium Metal is an upcycled stainless steel repurposed from destructed illegal firearms seized by local authorities in Central America. The firearms are melted down and transformed back to raw stainless steel by IM Sweden Development Partner in Sweden.

The final product: The campaign provides support to local communities and economies at every step of the way in the material recovery process. At its final stage, the Nepalese women who assemble the bands, saved from human trafficking, are ensured restored livelihoods and fair employment thanks to NGO and campaign collaborator, Maiti Nepal.

Bringing it all together

What makes this campaign unique it that each #TOGETHERBAND pack contains two individually packaged bands: one to wear and one to share (of the same style, either classic or mini). What's more, it is the only campaign where the production and net proceeds help fight all 17 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, supporting life-changing projects selected by the UBS Optimus Foundation and BOTTLETOP Foundation.
