Project overview

Los Angeles is currently battling multiple wildfires that have collectively scorched over 40,000 acres, resulting in at least 27 fatalities, evacuations of hundreds of thousands of residents, and the destruction of nearly 13,000 structures. Communities impacted by these wildfires face a range of urgent needs as they navigate the immediate aftermath of these powerful firestorms and transition into long-term rebuilding and recovery.

The UBS Optimus Foundation is supporting our vetted partners Americares, World Central Kitchen, Team Rubicon and GiveDirectly who are providing ongoing assistance to victims of the Los Angeles Wildfires. We are proud to support their collective efforts to holistically address the immediate and future needs of the LA communities with health services, food assistance, logistics help and emergency cash assistance. Donations received through the website will be distributed among the four partner organizations by the UBS Optimus Foundation, prioritizing areas of greatest need to maximize the impact of our collective response.

Our Partners: Americares, GiveDirectly, Team Rubicon, and World Central Kitchen

Americares is responding to the multiple wildfires devastating Los Angeles and has offered assistance to more than 70 partners across California and are prepared to address urgent health needs and help restore health services for survivors.

GiveDirectly is delivering cash to low-income families in the hardest-hit areas of Los Angeles. This emergency cash will help cover their immediate needs, including: essentials like food, medicine, and diapers; shelter and hotel stays while evacuated; and bills for their phone, healthcare, and utilities.

Team Rubicon is supporting emergency personnel and local officials by filling gaps in critical services. They provide essential supplies like food, water, and ice to survivors and perform chainsaw operations to reduce future fire risks. Up to 200 'Greyshirt' volunteers assist first responders at neighborhood checkpoints, providing educational materials to survivors.

World Central Kitchen is serving meals in partnership with local food trucks and restaurant partners. To date, they have served over 200k meals to affected communities at over 50 distribution sites, including public and restricted.
