Data on auto congestion, public transit, and the number of people going to work (foot traffic) provides a glimpse of whether activity is starting to get back to normal around the globe.

  • Germany, the EU's largest economy, recently lifted mobility restrictions, and there are signs of recovery in auto congestion, public transit, and going to work (the latter is indicated by foot traffic data).
  • The UK and France show a moderate recovery in auto congestion and foot traffic but flattish public transit.
  • Italy and Spain are seeing flattish auto congestion and public transit and a moderate rise in going to work.
