  • The share of grocery in US consumer spending continues to increase, but more slowly than in April.
  • Spending at convenience stores, drug stores, and gas stations is recovering.
  • The share of discretionary retailers (restaurants, department stores, and specialty retailers) continues to fall but is recovering.
  • Home improvement still shows the biggest increase in spending, followed by grocery stores.
  • Restaurants continue to lag in share of transactions vs. January. Within the restaurant category, burgers and pizza outperformed in May.
