Technology Is strain on broadband networks easing?

Changes in download speeds (higher is better) and latency (lower is better) reflect the degree to which mobile networks are under strain from people spending more time at home engaged in high-bandwidth activities.

  • Download speeds in Milan fell sharply week-on-week in early March, which is consistent with the earlier outbreak there.
  • After recovering in late March/early April, speeds began to decline again in all cities examined.
  • Latency in Madrid and Milan increased substantially in March but is now declining.
