UBS Group Franchise Awards recognize activity that truly reflects our principles and behaviors. Last year, Sparshi encouraged UBS offices to reduce one-use items and replace them with reusable ones to support the environment (and also save on costs). We caught up with her to find out a bit more.
Hi Sparshi, could you tell us a bit about what you do?
I’m a software quality analyst. I’ve been in this profession for the last seven years. I joined UBS in July 2018 and I’m currently a part of the Group Technology Directories team. We manage user accounts and access rights to our applications, servers and desktops.
What’s the most exciting part of your job?
I’ve always enjoyed my job because it’s just like playing hide and seek. The defects in the applications are hidden somewhere and I have to find them. We always work towards delivering the best, and client satisfaction is our goal.
How do you like it at the Mumbai office?
I love working here. I enjoy my job and the workplace itself. Moreover, there are many opportunities for learning, development, and employee engagement too. I feel we’re always engaged in the right activities here.
What was your Group Franchise Award idea and how did it come about?
When I started in the office, I noticed the use of paper cups for tea and coffee. My previous workplace also used paper cups for beverages and I suggested ceramic instead. This achieves two things. Firstly, we can save money (since proper mugs are just a one-time investment) and, secondly, we can contribute towards a greener earth by reducing our waste. I was eager to propose the same idea here and share some best practices.
I was really surprised to be one of the few nominated for a Group Franchise Award. It’s a great way to collect ideas from employees. I shared my idea there, thinking that if it’s documented then hopefully it will be noticed. I'm glad I did that.
How do you relax outside of work?
I don’t have a set list of activities, but I find cooking and baking to be therapeutic.
