It was right at the end of a successful Ask the CEO event. I was planning to go back to my desk, digesting all the valuable insights that were shared – but right before leaving the hall, my colleague told me to join her to greet Sergio Ermotti. And I have to say, the Group CEO asking me about my experiences prior to joining UBS made me realize that he really cares about employees. And other than feeling slightly embarrassed when stuttering in response to his question, it was clear to me from that moment on that I'm working for a company with an open culture.
I must admit, joining this global firm sort of made me feel like a little frog in a big pond. And I'm sure I'm not the only one at the event who felt that hearing directly from our CEO about how UBS gives someone like me a lot of room to grow and gain a broad range of transferable experience and knowledge, was extremely motivating.
During the event, Sergio shared his personal views on a range of topics – from Bitcoin, to the reasons we merged our various wealth management areas into Global Wealth Management, to how the firm can adapt for continued success in an ever-changing environment. Getting so much insight from Sergio so early in my career at UBS makes me really excited about this new chapter in my life. I can't wait to see what the next six months of my internship hold for me!
