The UBS Culture Foundation supports artists and cultural projects displaying a broad variety in terms of content and form, aims and target groups, as well as time frame and financial range. This is not the place for a comprehensive description of the Foundation Board's diverse activities, but in order to give the reader an impression of the UBS Culture Foundation's funding practice we list here a selection of art and culture projects that the Foundation has supported in recent years. Unless otherwise noted the project descriptions have been taken from the grant proposals and thus reflect the level of information at the time when the application was processed.

The Basel-based artist Julia Steiner (b. 1982) has gained recognition above all for her large-formatted drawings in which she applies dry black gouache with a brush either to paper or directly to a wall surface.

The origins of the little chapel located between Saint-Jean and Grimentz in the Canton Valais trace back to the thirteenth century, although first mention as part of local hamlet only date from 1429.

In 2014 Switzerland and Japan celebrate their 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations. For this occasion the composer, musician, and choir director Heidy Nyman (b. 1959) was commissioned to arrange a musical soiree on the history of relations between the two nations that appear so different at first glance.
