UBS is proud to mark its 12th year as sponsor of the Beijing Music Festival.
Our support of this premier festival is in line with our commitment both to the promotion of excellence and innovation in the arts and culture and to support the continued development of the China market.
The centerpiece of our sponsorship is the concert at Wangfujiang Church. Colloquially known as the ‘Church Concert’, performances at this historic venue are a highlight of the annual program and one of the Beijing Music Festival’s enduring traditions.
This year, UBS is proud to present celebrated pianist Zhu Xiao Mei in a recital of Bach’s Goldberg Variations.
Critics have compared Zhu’s mastery of the Goldberg to other famed interpretations of this canon by artists such as Glenn Gould. In 2014, Zhu released a live recording of the Goldberg Variations from her 2012 performance in St Thomas Church, where Bach spent many years of his life.
The documentary film created about her deeply personal relationship with the Goldberg Variations, “The Return is the Movement of Tao”, won the Best Essay Award at the 33rd International Festival of Film Arts. Her 2014 album, “Art of Fugue”, won France’s most influential record award, the Choc de Lanee, and the Special Achievement Award at the 2015 International Classical Music Awards.
UBS is delighted to welcome Zhu Xiao Mei to the Beijing Music Festival as part of its continuing support of outstanding musicians from China.
