UBS announces today that Jakob Hlasek, former Swiss number one and current Davis Cup captain, has joined its Sports and Entertainment Group (SEG) as a consultant effective January 1st, 2001.

After Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, soccer consultant to the Sports and Entertainment Group since May 2000, Jakob Hlasek will support UBS in its goal of becoming the private banking benchmark in sports and entertainment. He will advise the Sports and Entertainment Group of UBS in providing excellence of service for clients in the tennis segment and UBS specific sports events.

Mr. Hlasek, 35, was one of the best tennis players of his time. His career highlights were the Davis Cup Final in 1992 with the Swiss Team and the World Double Title in 1990. He won 7 professional singles titles and his highest ranking was N°7 in the World and Swiss N°1. Today, Mr. Hlasek is both the Swiss Davis Cup and Fed Cup captain. He also manages successfully his own real estate, computer software and internet companies. His personality and professionalism will be a tremendous asset for the Sports and Entertainment Group of UBS.
