Zurich, 16 November 2017 – In addition to the current two weeks of paid paternity leave, UBS employees in Switzerland will now also be entitled to opt either for two to four weeks of unpaid leave, or work 80% for one to six months.

This enhanced paternity leave for fathers alongside the generous maternity leave of up to 210 days for new mothers confirms UBS as one of the leading firms in Switzerland for parental leave. The enhancement underlines the efforts being made by UBS to create family-friendly structures to attract talented professionals from various target groups.

Patrick Stolz Head UBS HR Region Switzerland: “This additional offering responds to the demand for flexible working to ensure that UBS remains attractive as an employer for fathers-to-be.”

The new entitlement applies to all permanent employees based in Switzerland and it can be taken at any time during the first year after the child’s birth. Employees can also take advantage of the new entitlement if they adopt a child. The change applies from 1 December 2017 and can be backdated to 1 January 2017.The entitlement also provides for excess insurance coverage – ensuring that no insurance gaps will open up in their pension funds as a result of employees taking either the additional unpaid paternity leave, or opting for the part-time solution for new fathers.
