Euromoney names UBS best bank in Switzerland for the third year in a row, and the best bank in the world.

Zurich/Basel, 11 July 2014 – Business magazine Euromoney has named UBS "Best Bank in Switzerland" for the third consecutive year in 2014. UBS also won the coveted "Best Global Bank" award.

The awards ceremony took place in London on 10 July. Lukas Gähwiler, CEO UBS Switzerland, said: "We have successfully positioned ourselves as the leading universal bank in Switzerland. Winning this award shows once again that our strategy is working."

"On behalf of the 60,000 employees of UBS I want to thank Euromoney for this important recognition. This will further reinforce our determination to continue to execute on our strategy in order to create value for our clients and shareholders," said Sergio P. Ermotti, Group Chief Executive Officer of UBS.

Clive Horwood, editor of Euromoney: "UBS's position in its home market of Switzerland continues to go from strength to strength. For a bank so clearly focused on providing returns while minimising the capital it applies, UBS Switzerland is a beacon. It is clearly the dominant financial institution in Switzerland."

The annual Euromoney Awards for Excellence recognize the world's leading financial institutions and rank among the banking sector's most prestigious accolades. More than 20 global product categories are evaluated, with awards given for the best providers in a particular category in every region and for the best banks in around 100 countries worldwide. An experienced Euromoney jury determines the winners in each category based on submissions from the banks.
