Multi-year partnership with the Swiss Foundation for Landscape Conservation
UBS is entering into a multi-year partnership with the Swiss Foundation for Landscape Conservation and is thus supporting the preservation of landscape that is worthy of protection in Switzerland. Various environmental protection projects are at the heart of it.
Landscape protection encourages sustainable development that aims to combine a high quality of life for people with a high quality of life for nature. UBS wants to contribute to the preservation of Switzerland's history-steeped cultural landscapes and thus serve to protect top-quality experiences and cultural identity.
For this reason, UBS is entering into a multi-year partnership with the Swiss Foundation for Landscape Conservation (SL) from 2011. SL strives to preserve, care for and enhance landscape that is worthy of protection in Switzerland. It pursues this goal by protecting, promoting and restoring the natural and cultural values of the landscape. It is a charitable foundation and has no commercial purpose.
For example, the following three projects will be supported through to 2013 with UBS support:
The project "Dry stone walls Twann/Ligerz", which aims to create dry stone walls on the left-hand shore of Lake Biel to preserve the vineyard landscape.
The project "Reactivation of Wartau's River Giessen", which is irrigating the already restored Giessen in the municipality of Wartau to offer fish a new habitat.
The project "Eriwis nature workshop" in Schinznach-Dorf (AG) with the aim of caring for and preserving the former Eriwis opalinus clay pit, which provides a habitat for a wealth of animals and plants.
