In a recent interview, Alex Leung spoke with Institutional Investing in Infrastructure (i3) about the middle-market infrastructure landscape, where he highlighted several advantages of middle-market funds.
Exposure to niche assets that are often overlooked by mega funds, with more opportunities negotiated on a bilateral basis. Potential for faster capital deployments and exits, as middle markets tend to enjoy greater deal flow and liquidity. ESG-friendly renewable energy investments often fall within the middle markets. With rising populism, smaller infrastructure assets tend to attract less public scrutiny compared to large trophy assets.
