Security tips for e-banking and Mobile Banking

We spell Security with a capital S – do you? We’ve got four tips that will take you far with minimum effort.

Tip #1

Log in securely – with the UBS Access app

UBS Mobile Banking and the Access app communicate with each other and automatically secure your connection to UBS. That’s why your smartphone is the secure login method without a card reader.

Tip #2

Keep an eye accounts – with push notifications

Set up notifications for account movements on your smartphone. This way you’ll get real-time information about debits and credits.

Tip #3

Set up personal security settings – with country restrictions and limits

Adapt your security settings to your needs:

  1. Log into UBS e-banking.
  2. In the “Payments” section, on the left select “Settings > Security settings > Country restrictions”.
  3. Click on “Set-up assistant”.
  4. In the list, you can see all the countries you’ve already made payments to.
  5. Check whether these countries should continue to be available for online payments. If not, change the selection.
  6. Click “Apply”. All other countries are now blocked for online payments.

You can adjust these country restrictions at any time in your security settings.

  1. Log into UBS e-banking.
  2. In the “Payments” section, on the left select “Settings > Security settings > Transfer limit”.
  3. Use the slider to set a monthly transfer limit. Set the limit slightly higher than the sum of your usual monthly payment orders, excluding account transfers.

You can adjust the transfer limit in your security settings at any time. To increase the maximum amount, you will need to confirm the change using your Access Card and card reader or the Access Card Display for your security.

  1. Log in to UBS e-banking.
  2. Under "Payments" in the navigation on the left-hand side, select "Settings > Security settings > Deactivate accounts".
  3. Set the switch for accounts that you would like to block for online payments from active (green) to blocked (red).

Tip: You can also block your accounts any time in the Mobile Banking app at «Settings & services > Self-service > Deactivate accounts».

You can reactivate accounts in the security settings whenever you wish. For your security, you need to confirm the activation using your Access Card and card reader or the Access Card Display.

Tip #4

Log out securely – shake your phone to log out

Properly logging out is important for your security. This is particularly easy on your smartphone: shake your device and you're logged out.

Never disclose your access data

Remember: UBS will never ask you for your access data unprompted.

Don’t write down important PINS and passwords

Instead, learn the PINs for your accounts by heart.  Also, don't save them in a password manager such as UBS Safe.
