Reimagining energy

The perspectives for new sources of energy in Latin America

Live discussion on July 08th, 2021

Latin America has made great a progress over the last 20 years in terms of electricity coverage: the number of people without access to electricity fell from 44 million to 12 million between 2000 and 2017. However, the degree of coverage in rural areas is only 92%, and access to modern and healthy cooking and refrigeration technologies is still lagging behind – 83 million people lack access to those sources.

What innovative initiatives can help overcome the challenge of providing safe and affordable energy for all in the region?

Two Latin America-based social entrepreneurs share the problems they are tackling, the interventions they have designed and their plans to scale up and achieve systemic change.
