GRESB – Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark
GRESB is a global sustainability platform for real estate. It evaluates and compares the annual performance of real estate investment vehicles based on environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria. GRESB assesses the energy and resource efficiency of participants, as well as their sustainability strategies and associated monitoring measures.
The sustainability Scorecard serves mainly to compare the sustainability performance of our own portfolio with set targets, as well as facilitating comparisons against our peers. For this reason, Real Estate Switzerland took part in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) in early 2016, for the second time. Three products were assessed in 2016. The aim of this process is to gain insight into our own sustainability performance by comparing it with that of other real estate portfolios, especially international ones.
In its assessment, GRESB found the performance of the RE-CH sustainability strategy, which all eight real estate products apply equally, to be exceptional. All three Real Estate Switzerland products assessed by GRESB in 2016 were awarded a Green Star.
