The bar was well and truly raised when Abu Dhabi made its debut on the Formula 1 calendar in 2009. The Middle East circuit features some novel features: a stunning hotel, which spans the circuit and a pit lane exit that burrows under the first corner and exits into the second. It is the only Grand Prix to start just before sunset and finish in the dark. The circuit winds around a marina with room for 150 yachts while a Ferrari theme park dominates the skyline. The track itself offers a blend of straights and tight corners. The Yas Marina Circuit features six corners below 100 km/h – only Monaco, Singapore and Valencia have more. Overtaking has historically been a problem at this track.
