Art Basel Miami Beach

Kiki Smith’s Chorus

Illustrating the firm’s commitment to contemporary art, each year UBS selects a work from the UBS Art Collection to feature at Art Basel Miami Beach.

This year, UBS features a work by renowned American artist Kiki Smith entitled Chorus. Chorus is a collection of multi-colored, stained glass stars surrounding a figurative sculpture inspired by Josephine Baker, the quintessential entertainer of her time, according to Kiki Smith.  Each freestanding star represents a patchwork design and references Baker's "rainbow tribe" of adopted children from around the world. Chorus is made up of free standing star sculptures that range from 18 inches to six feet in height and are a kaleidoscope of hand-blown, translucent, iridized, modeled, and cathedral glass.

In addition to featuring Chorus at Art Basel Miami Beach, a community affairs program inspired by Chorus will be hosted for students who participated in "ArtWorks", a summer internship program created by Arts for Learning in Miami and supported by UBS.
