Why does natural capital matter?
Nature underpins our economies, our health, and our climate. Forests regulate temperatures and rainfall, wetlands store carbon and filter water, and soil supports food security. Yet their value often remains under-appreciated and numerous ecosystems are being degraded faster than they can recover. This has knock-on consequences for biodiversity and climate change, which can feed back into further ecosystem degradation, creating vicious cycle effects. As systems degrade, ecological, financial, reputational, and social risks compound.
But there are solutions, many of which are investable today. In this hub we explore these, and the outsized role of philanthropy not just in protecting natural capital, but in catalyzing the change needed to restore it.
Not all the content included on this hub is available for both retail and institutional clients, with some intended for an institutional investor audience only. Some of the links below will ask you to identify whether you are an institutional client.
