Which browser should I use to access UBS e-banking? | Both up-to-date versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape communicator that have 128-bit encryption support are suitable for accessing UBS e-banking. For a list of the requirements your computer and your browser must fulfill, please go to the Requirements page. |
How can I avoid saving the pages of my e-banking session on my hard disk if I use Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x? | Click on Start - Settings - Control Panel - Internet options. Click on 'Advanced' and select 'Security' activate the checkbox 'Do not save encrypted pages on hard disk.' |
Which security settings are recommended for Microsoft Internet Explorer? | It is recommended that you should set your Internet Explorers security settings level to medium. We do not recommend that you use customized security settings since some combinations are not suitable for working with UBS e-banking (View->Internet options->Security). |
Why does UBS e-banking use cookies? What is a cookie anyway? | The UBS e-banking system uses cookies to remember certain settings (e.g. authentication) and to keep track of the current session. Cookies do not contain any sensitive information about the user. |
What if I do not accept cookies in my browser? | You will not be able to log in to UBS e-banking unless you accept cookies. |
What happens if I forget my UBS e-banking password? | You can call our e-banking Helpline for assistance. Once you have sent your request to the UBS e-banking Helpline, UBS will delete your current password and send you a replacement. If you wish, we can also block your contract to prevent anyone from using it in the meantime. Your contract is only unblocked upon your request. |
Can I use my UBS e-banking password to access e-banking Classic or other e-banking services offered in UBS Switzerland? | No. At this stage our e-banking systems are not integrated with those of e-banking services in Switzerland. Separate passwords are required for authentication. |
How strong is the implemented encryption for UBS e-banking applications? | Encryption algorithms used in the UBS e-banking system is 128-bit (IDEA/RC4) or 168-bit (3DES). |
What kind of encryption algorithms does UBS e-banking use? | All encryption algorithms in the UBS e-banking application have been tested and approved by UBS and by other major Swiss banks for use in high security applications. In particular, RSA, IDEA and MD5 algorithms are in use. |
What is https? | Https is the secure version of the commonly used http (hyper text transfer protocol). It is based on the SSL (secure socket layer) protocol. |
What is SSL? | SSL (secure socket layer) is a publicly available protocol which encrypts all data that is passed between a browser and the connected server. |
How secure is SSL? | SSL (secure socket layer) is a very secure protocol. In the UBS e-banking application, SSL is used to protect all transactions. |
