UBS se prépare à changer de dirigeants.
Le Conseil d'administration d'UBS SA a pris connaissance de la décision de son président, Monsieur Alex Krauer, de renoncer à ses fonctions à compter de l'Assemblée générale ordinaire de 2001. Il propose aux actionnaires de désigner comme successeur Monsieur Marcel Ospel, Group Chief Executive Officer. Simultanément, le Conseil d'administration sera élargi sur le plan international.
Monsieur Alex Krauer, président du Conseil d'administration d'UBS SA a démissionné avec effet à compter de l'Assemblée générale de 2001. Il a justifié sa décision en déclarant: «Comme l'entreprise a achevé sa fusion avec succès, que sa situation financière est bonne et que ses orientations stratégiques sont prometteuses, le moment me semble venu de changer d'équipe dirigeante.»
Le Conseil d'administration proposera à l'Assemblée générale du 26 avril 2001 d'élire en son sein Monsieur Marcel Ospel, 50 ans, et de lui confier la présidence par la suite.
Il a désigné comme président du Directoire Monsieur Luqman Arnold, 50 ans, Group Chief Financial Officer. Celui-ci continuera de diriger le Corporate Center et restera donc directement responsable des fonctions financières ainsi que de la maîtrise du risque.
Pour mieux refléter le caractère international d'UBS et des activités du groupe à l'échelle du Conseil d'administration, il est proposé en outre à l'Assemblée générale de compléter celui-ci en élisant trois nouveaux membres, à savoir un Anglais, un Néerlandais et un Américain: Sir Peter Davis, 58 ans, CEO de J. Sainsbury plc., Londres, Johannes Antoine de Gier, 55 ans, ancien président et CEO de Warburg Dillon Read, Londres, et Lawrence Allen Weinbach, 60 ans, président et CEO d'Unisys Corporation, New York.
