Bahrain brought Formula 1 to the Middle East for the first time in 2004 and has been followed since by Abu Dhabi. The event did not take place last year in the wake of the uprisings in the Gulf region. The circuit at Sakhir is another of Hermann Tilke's creations and features his trademark long straights leading into tight corners to encourage overtaking. It has produced plenty of overtaking through the years. It’s a strong circuit for Ferrari. The Scuderia has won four out of the seven races at this track.
