UBS sets new standards with officially accredited certification for client advisors
UBS is constantly investing in improving the quality of its client advisory service and has segment-specific standards for client advisors in Switzerland. Its examination and certification process is comprehensive and has now been externally recognized. This means that UBS client advisors now have a seal of quality that is currently unique in the financial center. UBS is therefore ensuring that its clients continue to receive first-class expert advice.
Zurich, 23 May 2012 – Increased client advisory expectations and constantly evolving financial markets mean advisors must have a high level of expertise. UBS therefore continually invests in providing its staff with training and professional development. As part of a comprehensive certification process in the retail banking, wealth management and corporate clients areas, UBS ensures that client advisors have a high level of knowledge and expertise. These certificates are now officially accredited.

Over 5,000 client advisors to complete certification by 2015
The curriculum covers different issues relating to products, financing, investment, regulation and risk in the different business areas. In total, over 5,000 UBS client advisors in Switzerland will undergo the certification process over the next three years. The externally recognized certificates are known in retail banking as Certified Private Client Advisor and Certified Individual Client Advisor, in wealth management as Certified Wealth Management Advisor CWMA® and in the corporate clients area as Certified Corporate Banker CCoB®. As client requirements and regulations constantly change, the certificates, issued by the independent SAQ Swiss Association for Quality, will have to be renewed every three years.
Training and development vital to the success of UBS
The success of UBS and the satisfaction of its clients in the future will depend more than ever on having highly capable people at all levels. The bank therefore offers staff a broad training program as part of its in-house Business University. Last year, a total of 150,000 training units were completed in Switzerland alone. UBS also has some 1,800 training positions, which will be further expanded as part of the training initiative launched in mid April.
