London | | Media Releases EMEA

UBS Investment Bank was today voted the leading Pan-European Brokerage Firm for Equity and Equity-Linked Research for a record tenth successive year

The Thomson Reuters Extel Survey ranked UBS Investment Bank number one in all three of the key disciplines of research: Research (tenth year); Sales (ninth year running) and Equity Trading and Execution (up from second place in 2009). This year UBS was also named as the number one Leading Pan-European Brokerage Firm for Economics and Strategy Research.

Commenting on the achievement, Francois Gouws, Joint Global Head of Equities said: ‘'To be ranked number one in all key areas of research, sales and trading is an outstanding achievement and I am delighted that the strength and quality of our business has been recognised in so many key categories year after year.'' Nick Pink, Head of European Equity Research commented: "Our success this year is first and foremost a result of the hard work and dedication of our team. We had continuity in a year when there was unprecedented change in our industry. The team has focussed on combining our top down macro product, quantitative analysis and bottom-up stock picking to produce the best ideas for our most important clients. I'd like to thank all of the team and our clients for their support."

The Extel Awards follow the announcement in February this year that UBS has been voted Institutional Investor magazine's 2010 number one ranked all-European research team for a record ninth consecutive year.
