UBS LAUNCHES ADVISER ACCESS TO INDUSTRY FUNDS
UBS Australia (UBS) today announce a significant enhancement to its Direct to Member offering that will enable authorised advisers to directly service industry funds' members through the investment platform.
Unlike traditional investment platforms, the UBS offering allows industry fund members to retain full control of the advice relationship. Members will be able to approve or cease adviser access to their account at any time as well as authorise advisers to transact on their behalf or view their account.
Paul Souter, Head of Strategy and Distribution for UBS Platforms Solutions Group said, "The provision of adviser functionality is an important extension to our current offering where industry fund members are able to directly manage their share, ETF, term deposits and cash investments. Our industry fund clients constantly look at ways to provide their members with access to quality advice and enhance their member offering. Our Direct to Member investment platform has been custom built to enable that strategy."
Another important feature for industry funds and their members will be the ability for a member to instruct the amount and frequency of an approved adviser service fee, in accordance with the policy of the fund.
The addition of the adviser functionality will be followed by a series of further improvements in 2014, including the integration of improved research, market data and charting capabilities, the addition of an expanded universe of investable instruments, auto-term deposit rollover and a suite of improved automated member alerts.
Paul Souter said, "Our key priority is to ensure that industry funds are able to provide their members with the right tools and information to make informed and appropriate investment decisions. Enabling meaningful advice relationships and improving the quality and timeliness of information is the beginning of this strategy."
UBS currently provides its Direct to Member investment platform to AustralianSuper, HOSTPLUS and Telstra Super.
