UBS names new Hong Kong Country Head

Hong Kong | | Media Releases APAC

UBS AG today named Chi-Won YOON as Chief Executive Officer of UBS AG, Hong Kong Branch and Country Head for Hong Kong.

Yoon succeeds Kathryn SHIH, Head of UBS Wealth Management - Asia Pacific and a member of the UBS Group Managing Board. Shih has decided to step down to concentrate solely on leadership of UBS's rapidly-growing Asia Pacific wealth management business.

"Over the past several years Kathryn has overseen the rapid expansion of our footprint in Asia Pacific. Chi-Won has spearheaded the development of our equities business in Asia and brings outstanding leadership qualities to his new role," said Rory TAPNER, Chairman and CEO of UBS AG in Asia Pacific, and a member of the UBS Group Executive Board.

Yoon joined the financial services industry 22 years ago in New York, and has been based in Hong Kong for 14 years. He has been Alternate Chief Executive of UBS AG Hong Kong Branch since 2006. In addition to his functional responsibilities as Head of Asia Equities, he is a member of the global Investment Bank People Committee and chairman of the global Investment Bank Recruitment Board.

As Country Head, Yoon will represent Hong Kong on UBS's Asia Pacific Management Committee, chair the local management committee, and be responsible for co-ordinating activities across the business groups in Hong Kong. His responsibility will encompass country strategy development, regulatory interface, and community affairs.

In a related move, Head of UBS Wealth Management for Greater China, Allen LO, has been named Alternate Chief Executive Officer for UBS AG, Hong Kong Branch.
