The UBS Global Hedge Fund Conference - Pan Asia 2006 was launched in Singapore yesterday. In excess of 400 delegates attended the first leg of the three-day conference. The final two days of the conference will take place in Melbourne on 25th and 26th September. Over recent years, Asia Pacific and Singapore, in particular, have come into increasingly sharp focus as the global investor community begins allocating capital into one of the world's fastest growing regions via a wide array of trading strategies.

"We expect the Asian hedge fund market to grow more rapidly than any other region in the world. In light of this, the UBS Global Hedge Fund Conference - Pan Asia 2006 aims to bring together the leading Asia focused hedge fund managers from around the world and provide insight into key issues which will help capture some of that growth," said Alex EHRLICH, Head of Global Prime Services at UBS Investment Bank.

"We are delighted with the overwhelming response which clearly demonstrates the importance of the hedge fund sector for the region and the immense potential for future growth. Authoritative commentary from leading hedge fund managers from around the world has resulted in a potent combination of global perspectives and local market insights," he said.

The conference, which concludes in Melbourne on 26th September, features discussion of a wide range of topics including: Asian multi-strategy from a global perspective; The pitfalls of investing in India; The case for multi-strategy investing in Asia; and Where to make money in Asia in 2007.

Forums include: A view on Asia Corporates, chaired by Matthew KODER, Joint Global Head of Equity Capital Markets at UBS Investment Bank; The State of the Regulatory Environment for Hedge Funds in the United States, chaired by Linda LORD, Head of US Legislative and Regulatory Affairs at UBS; Hedge funds, fund of funds and asset allocation: A review, chaired by David JESSOP, Global Head of Global Quantitative Research at UBS; and Socially Responsible Investment and Alternative Alpha, chaired by Julie HUDSON, Head of Socially Responsible Investments at UBS.
