Kenneth Allen AM joins UBS Investment Bank as Senior Adviser - Asia Pacific

UBS Investment Bank today announced that Ken ALLEN AM, the former Australian Consul-General in New York, has been appointed as a Senior Adviser - Asia Pacific.

Allen will advise the Investment Bank and its clients across the region, on policy and strategic issues with a particular focus on Australia, the United States and China. Allen will report to Brad ORGILL, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, UBS Investment Bank, Australasia.

Between August 2001 and March 2006 Allen was the Australian Consul-General in New York where he was responsible for representing Australia's interests in the north eastern United States. Allen started his banking career with the World Bank in Washington DC, after which he joined Merrill Lynch in New York where he was responsible for establishing the bank's investment banking presence in Australia. Allen's most recent banking position was Senior Director Investment Banking at Macquarie Bank.

"Ken's appointment will further strengthen our ability to develop and maintain banking relationships in Australia, the United States, China and elsewhere in the Asia Pacific. Ken's experience, relationships, insights and knowledge all have significant potential to enhance our ability to meet the needs of our clients," said Orgill.

Allen said: "The breadth of UBS's global network, the depth of its service and product offering, and the unquestionable momentum the bank has built in Asia Pacific and in the United States represents a compelling opportunity. I am excited to be taking on this new role and grasping the opportunity it offers."

Allen's appointment is effective immediately. He will be based at UBS's office in Sydney.
