UBS appoints Head of Philanthropy Services in Asia Pacific
Underlining its commitment to philanthropic activities in Asia Pacific, UBS has appointed Terry Alan FARRIS as Head Philanthropy Services Asia Pacific. Farris will report to Henry HIRZEL, KeyClient Segment for UBS Wealth Management in Asia Pacific.
"Terry brings a wealth of experience to the role, having committed his entire
professional life to philanthropy. I am confident that his arrival will prove
invaluable both in fulfilling UBS's ambition of further establishing itself as the
thought leader in the field in Asia as well as in its efforts to establish philanthropic platforms for key clients," said Hirzel.
"Philanthropy services are an integral part of UBS's comprehensive wealth management activities. We aim to help our clients translate their philanthropic aspirations into an effective strategy through a structured advisory approach," added Hirzel.
Farris, whose appointment became effective on 24th January, joins UBS from MeesPierson Asia, where he was Head of Philanthropy Services for the region overseeing consulting, advisory, and asset management for institutions, corporations, foundations and individuals in the region.
Between 2000 and 2003, he was Managing Partner of Farris Associates in Hong Kong, where he advised individuals and families on setting up philanthropic projects in Asia. Between 1998 and 2000, he worked for the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital (HKAH) where he helped to establish the HKAH Foundation and had responsibility for the review of healthcare opportunities in China. Before that, he worked in a philanthropic capacity at the University of Hawaii Foundation (Hawaii) and Pacific Union College (California).
