UBS hires leading utilities, power and infrastructure team
UBS, Australia's leading investment bank, announced today that it has hired the leading Utilities, Power and Infrastructure investment banking team led by David di Pilla.
The team of four, from JP Morgan, has led some of the largest transactions in the power and utilities sector including the successful sale of Duke Energy Australia to Alinta for $1.7bn and the acquisition of Loy Yang A.
UBS' Joint Head of Investment Banking, Richard HUNT said, "We are extremely pleased that David and his team have agreed to join UBS. We are constantly seeking ways to strengthen and grow our business. These hires represent a major strategic move by UBS, underscoring our commitment to the utilities, power and infrastructure sector, which we see as a major growth area in the Australian and global marketplace.
David Di Pilla will become Head of Utilities, Power and Infrastructure. He will work alongside Geoff DAVIS, Head of Transport and Leisure.
Richard ELMSLIE will become a consultant to UBS Investment Bank. During his 4 years at UBS, Richard has been involved in some significant M&A and ECM transactions.
The team includes Tom BUTCHER, Daniel KLEIJN and Nicolas MOTTERAM who will also join UBS bringing extensive advisory experience in the sector.
Commenting on the hire of the team Mr Matthew GROUNDS, Joint Head of Investment Banking said, "The combination of their expertise and experience with that of our existing team and the UBS investment banking platform will consolidate our very strong position in the utilities, power and infrastructure sector."
