New York/ San Francisco | | Media Releases Americas

UBS Investment Bank today announced that John Metz will join its Investment Bank Department (IBD) as Managing Director and Head of US Communications Banking within the firm's Technology Banking group. Metz will report to Brian Webber, Global Head of Technology banking, and will be based in San Francisco. Metz will join UBS from Credit Suisse, where he was most recently Head of the Communications Banking Group.

"Continued strength in technology M&A, particularly in the mid-market, and a growing backlog of equity deals point to increased deal volumes in 2009," said Webber. "By making senior-level additions to our technology banking team we are best positioned to continue to bring best-in-class strategic advice, ideas and execution to our expanding technology client base. John is a great addition as he has advised communications clients on a full range of corporate issues, as well as worked with clients through diverse business and economic cycles."

In his new role, Metz will be responsible for banking coverage for all sectors of technology communications including storage, networking, and data center and communications infrastructure. Metz joins UBS after 10 years at Credit Suisse, where he worked in various roles within the firm's technology banking team. Prior to that, he worked in technology banking at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell. Metz holds a BA from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from the Indiana University Graduate School of Business.
