UBS Global Communications and Technology Conference opens in New York

New York | | Media Releases Americas

The UBS Annual Global Communications and Technology Conference opens today at the Grand Hyatt in New York City and runs through Thursday, November 16. The conference will feature presentations by CEOs and other senior executives from more than 200 global technology companies to provide insight into opportunities and challenges in the industry.

In addition, Carly Fiorina, former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, will be one of the keynote speakers and will discuss the value of leading indicators and corporate governance within companies.

"We are excited to be hosting this inaugural conference with presentations from large, mid and small capitalization companies, as well as highly promising private companies in the communications, digital media, semiconductor, hardware, software, internet and services sectors," said Brian Webber, Managing Director and Joint Head of Technology Investment Banking, Americas, UBS. "This conference should give us a clear picture of the changing landscape of the technology sector and innovations that are on the horizon."

Few segments of the global economy are undergoing a more dramatic change than the technology industry. As advances in communications networks and processing power continue to reduce the cost of bandwidth and computing resources, new applications and services are being introduced at a rapid pace. Both individuals and enterprises are experiencing innovative new product and service offerings as distinct areas of technology converge, and businesses that once were partners or collaborators are now finding themselves in direct competition. As this innovation accelerates over the next several years, investors will see the rise of new markets, new companies and new investment opportunities and challenges.

Keynote presentations and panels will include:

• Carly Fiorina, former Chief Executive Officer, Hewlett-Packard
• Nabeel Gareeb, Chief Executive Officer, MEMC
• Ron Garriques, President, Mobile Devices Business, Motorola
• William Keitel, Chief Financial Officer, QUALCOMM
• Abhi Talwalkar, Chief Executive Officer, LSI Logic
• Panel: "The Changing Technology Industry Landscape: Corporate M&A and Private Equity in the Technology Industry," with speakers from Blackstone, EMC and Symantec
