UBS has renewed its certification under the international ISO 14001 environmental standard. This certification is subject to renewal every three years and is conducted by Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS). It covers the entire scope of UBS's products, services, in-house operations and supply chain that may potentially have an environmental impact. In 2011, the SGS auditors interviewed 170 employees and management staff from various business areas and concluded that UBS's environmental management system had been further improved across all categories, i.e. as regards risks, opportunities and operational ecology. UBS has been certified under ISO 14001 since 1999 and was the first financial institution in the world to obtain this type of certification.
