Mentoring & employee networks
Our mentoring programs and employee networks provide opportunities for personal and professional growth, build cross-business relationships and contribute to our culture of active mutual respect and support.
Because each business and region has different characteristics and challenges, we support a rich variety of mentoring programs around the world.
For example, we have a cross-firm senior leader mentoring program, in which our most senior leaders – the Group Executive Board – mentor Group Managing Board members, who in turn, mentor key talents.
Mentoring is an important element of UBS's many talent development programs, from graduate level upwards. Participants are usually paired with a senior manager or colleague, who provides ongoing advice and support on their learning and development.
We also actively encourage our people to share experiences and learn from each other within networks of common interest, up and down reporting lines, and across areas of responsibility.
For example, in the US, peer mentoring circles bring together women from different functions, businesses, and levels of expertise. Groups meet regularly to exchange information, ideas and advice on career development, organizational politics, and business issues.
UBS has a number of established employee networks and groups on a regional or country level. Many are cultural, heritage or women's networks, and we also have networks that focus on family or inclusive workplace topics. Through awareness-raising partnerships, events and other activities, these networks inspire cross-business relationships, strengthening our inclusive culture and providing opportunities for personal and professional development.
For example, our All Bar None network in the UK organizes and sponsors development workshops, networking opportunities and events with industry associations such as 100 Women in Hedge Funds. In Zurich, the Women's Business Network meets to discuss career development, organizational know-how and day-to-day business challenges.
