The secure Access Card
To log into e-banking securely from your desktop computer, tablet or smartphone, you always need a separate Access Card which contains your protected access data. The Access Card can only be activated with your PIN. Even if your device falls into the wrong hands, nobody can access your account without your personal Access Card and the corresponding PIN.
The Access Card is also protected against electronic attacks because it is not linked to your computer, tablet or smartphone. The Access Card is out of reach of viruses, malware and Trojans.
Your personal code
If your Access Card is activated, you can calculate your personal code. A new code is generated for each login and is only valid for a short period of time.
Additional security for payments
Beneficiary confirmation is an additional security feature for payment transactions. A one-time additional check is required when making payments to new beneficiaries who have not yet been approved by UBS.
Payments to new beneficiaries entered in the Mobile Banking app require subsequent confirmation in e-banking.
Card reader with Access Card
Logging in with the card reader and Access Card is a two-stage process. Enter the code displayed by UBS into the card reader and copy the code generated by the card reader onto the login site. A new access code is generated for each login and is only valid for a short period of time. Your personal access data remains protected on the card and cannot be accessed over the Internet.
Access Card Display for mobile access
The Access Card Display has a built-in keypad and display, which means that no card reader is required. The Access Card Display is therefore ideal for logging into the Mobile Banking app.
Access Key (only with USB interface)
The Access Key is the convenient alternative to the card reader. Connect it to your computer and log in in just a few clicks. The Access Key automatically produces a secure connection to UBS.

Login for smartphones with NFC (e.g. new Android devices)
The following options are available for logging into the Mobile Banking app with a smartphone with NFC (Near Field Communication, List of smartphones with NFC):
If your smartphone supports wireless exchange of data via NFC (e.g. Android devices), you can log in directly with the NFC-enabled Access Card and associated PIN. No card reader is required.

Login for smartphones without NFC (e.g. iPhone)
The following options are available for logging into the Mobile Banking app with a smartphone without NFC (Near Field Communication), e.g. iPhone:
Access Card Display
If your smartphone does not support wireless exchange of data via NFC, log in with the Access Card Display. This card has a built-in keypad and display, which means that no card reader is required. This card can also be used to log into e-banking from a desktop computer.
To guarantee absolute security, you should check your own security behavior. Security breaches are often caused by inattention. Always ask yourself the following security questions:
To minimize the risk of third-party access, always start the login process with the card reader via www.ubs.com/online.
The number displayed by UBS for the login, which you transfer to the card reader, always has six digits. If it has fewer digits, you might be confronted with attempted fraud. In this case, contact the support as soon as possible.
You should also contact the support if unusual messages are displayed or if, during the login, you are requested to install new software.
In contrast to the card reader, the Access Key automatically establishes a secure connection to UBS.
UBS never takes the initiative to approach you by phone, by e-mail or by internet to request you to disclose personal information or to perform a confirmation with the Access Card and card reader.
Therefore, delete e-mails whose senders you do not know or whose authenticity you doubt. Do not disclose any personal information if somebody asks you for such unrequested, even if the other party claims to be UBS.
After logging in, only use the Access Card and card reader to confirm character strings that you yourself have entered and whose correctness you can check – such as account numbers for a payment or a new telephone number.
As a general rule, if you consider a situation to be unusual, refuse to disclose your personal security details or to use the Access Card and card reader. In such a case, contact the support as soon as possible.
With the confirmation of the beneficiary, you can ensure that no payments that have been manipulated by third parties are executed. For this, you need to compare the entered payment data carefully with your payment references.

You can order additional Access Cards and the Access Key conveniently under «Products» in e-banking. Corporate and institutional clients should contact the support team.
Please make sure that your smartphone supports NFC technology before ordering our Access Cards for mobile access. The iPhone does not support this technology.
