UBS is the first financial firm to sponsor a new secondary school under the UK Government’s ‘Academy’ program. We are making a financial contribution of £2m to the project – half of which is being provided by an anonymous private client – but expect to make an even more valuable long-term investment through the skills and commitment of employee volunteers.

The Bridge Academy, Hackney opened to its first intake of 187 students in September 2007. It focuses on delivering high standards of teaching and learning, bringing a much-needed boost to the educational facilities in one of the most disadvantaged areas of the UK. With specialisms in music and maths, by 2013 it will reach full capacity with 1,150 students aged 11 to 18.
