Research on vaccination to combat diarrhea
Research on vaccination

An Indian scientist is developing a vaccine effective against a range of serious diarrheal diseases, involving weakened and genetically altered salmonella bacteria. The outer walls of these bacteria are modified in such a way as to trigger an aggressive immune response to several different diarrhea-causing infections. This vaccine has the potential to protect up to a billion people each year against typhoid, cholera and other intestinal diseases, saving thousands from an untimely death.
