About us

Dreams

"I dream of becoming a doctor and helping sick children. The opportunity to go to school is a prerequisite for my dream to be fulfilled." Alem Zelleke, 14 years old

Our vision

Free access to education and healthcare for children and young people all over the world – that is our vision. We seek to promote a world in which all children go to school and are able to grow up in an environment free from violence and abuse. In addition, we support medical and biological research in the fight against life-threatening diseases and the prevention of disease in general. In this way, we aim to bring about sustainable improvements to the living standards of disadvantaged children and young people, particularly in the southern hemisphere.

Column 1: Did you know that:

  • 30,000 children die each day?

  • 90 million children – mainly girls - receive no education?

  • one quarter of all girls in industrialized countries fall victim to violence or sexual abuse before their 16th birthday?

Each project that we support takes an innovative approach to tackling at least one of these shocking situations.

Our strategy

We promote projects all over the world – regardless of politics, religion and ethnic background. Rather than carrying out the projects ourselves, we appoint partner organizations, which are solely responsible for implementing the projects. These partners must be able to demonstrate high levels of specialist expertise and an irreproachable reputation. In line with the Foundation’s stated purpose and strategic orientation, we have defined two core areas: "Children & Talents" and "Medical & Biological Research".

core area

The funds received by the Foundation are invested in a direct and targeted fashion, and, since UBS pays all the Foundation’s administrative costs, every franc donated goes straight to the projects we support.

  • Education and training, also and especially for girls

  • Free growth and development for all children of the world
