This product is a fixed-term investment that lets you invest surplus liquidity for defined periods of up to one year through a commodity transaction. The product
is designed for risk-conscious investors with a conservative investment strategy looking for full protection of the principal (capital protection) as well as the profit at maturity.
A fixed-term Islamic investment
A UBS Sharia-Compliant Deposit (commodity murabaha) is a fixed-term investment for up to one year involving the purchase and sale of commodities (base metals).
Under a UBS Sharia-Compliant Deposit you buy base metals from a commodity supplier and sell these to UBS AG, Jersey (the “Buyer”) via UBS AG, Zurich (the
“Agent”). While the cash price for the purchase of the base metals is settled on the spot, the sale price is paid on a deferred basis and incorporates an element
of profit for you.
UBS Sharia-Compliant Deposits offer full capital protection and market-related returns. An investment in this product is for a fixed period and cannot be terminated or sold before maturity.
