The cover is mandatory for all persons resident or working in Switzerland, and all Swiss citizens abroad working in the service of the Swiss Confederation.

AHV (Federal Occupational Retirement and Survivors' Insurance Scheme)
Retirement pension payable to men after their 65th birthday and women after their 64nd birthday.

IV (Federal Disability Insurance Scheme) Benefits are based on the degree of disability:

  • over 40%: 1/4 of IV pension

  • over 50%: 1/2 of IV pension

  • over 60%: 3/4 of IV pension

  • over 70%: full IV pension

Supplementary benefits
Persons entitled to an AHV/IV pension may claim supplementary benefits if their income and assets are insufficient to cover the minimum essentials.
