Barbara Hofmann-Johnson

  

is an independent curator and art critic based in Cologne. She has studied art history, Germanic literature and history of theatre, film and television. She has contributed essays on art and artists which were published in periodicals, books and catalogues and also wrote the short essays on artworks from the UBS Art Collection.

venues at: Deutsches Architekturmuseum Frankfurt/M., Städt.Galerie Wolfsburg, Rheinisches Landesmuseum Bonn.

 
Further to these photography shows she was the curator of group- and soloexhibtions (selection) :

 

Chad McCail & Grayson Perry (2000, drawing and sculptures), Miriam Bäckström (1999, photography), Julie Roberts (1997,site specific installation with painting)/ presented in a private gallery in Cologne.

 
In 1998/1999 she was responsible for the series: Conceptual Environment at Goethe Institut Rotterdam presenting three exhibtions with works by Candida Höfer (photography), Kocheisen + Hullmann (painting/film), Boris Becker (photography)

  

In 2002 she organized Raum ohne Raum (Space without Space, thematic group show), including works by Bäckström, Cape, Erhard, Gerber, Kienzer,Schliesser (D),Thuile (I)/ presented at "Kulturallianzen” /Allianz Insurance,Old School Cologne - in 1998 When Season becomes Form, thematic group show with works by: Baechler, Becker, Dijkstra, Esser, Exner, Gursky,Höfer,Koster, Kocheisen + Hullmann, Paeffgen, Pierson, Strothjohann, Templin van Vreden, Yediler / presented at "Kulturallianzen” /Allianz Insurance,Old School Cologne and in 1995  The Hand as a motif in Contemporary Art/ curated show at Art Frankfurt.
